I have been working up to trying this posture. Is it helpful to be strong in headstand before attempting this forearm stand? Can I move into forearm stand without being completely stable in headstand?

Thanks for your thoughtful question! Yes, it does help to be strong in
headstand prior to feeling strong in forearm stand as the posture uses many
of the same muscles – but it’s certainly not necessary. I would try moving
into forearm stand with your fingertips a few inches away from a sturdy
wall. That way you can experiment kicking up into the posture and
establishing the correct alignment. Hope that helps!
